Mongoose company Wikipedia

Brunswick sold Mongoose to Pacific Cycle in 2000 and Pacific Cycle was bought by Montreal-based Dorel Industries in 2004. As of 2018, Mongoose models are available through Pacific Cycle in Madison, Wisconsin.[2]On 11 October 2021 Pon Holdings, headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands announced that they acquired US-based bike company Dorel Sports. By combining Pon.Bike and Dorel Sports, a leading bicycle schwinn electric bike company in the world will be created, with a combined revenue of around 2.5 billion euro.

This is the first time that the Mongoose brand has partnered with LUXBMX, a momentous occasion and one driven by our desire to support a brand that has literally been there from the start, a truly original company. These bikes will act as a well-rounded addition to the LUX selection, providing a range of sizes (16 to 20 inch) in the ‘Legion’ model, a 29 inch option (in varying colours) for the ‘Hooligan’ as well as 20 inch options for the old-school classics. We think that this offers our customers the chance to celebrate and embrace the nostalgia of Mongoose, while moving forward in the modern BMX world with taste, style and strength. Race bikes are optimized for competition, with stiff frames and precise sizing. Middle-aged riders looking to recapture some of their youth without cracking their kneecaps will be interested in a flock of new “retro” bikes that repeat the styles of the ’80s and ’90s forebears with more rider room and more durable materials. Last but certainly not least, “BikeLife” is a whole new approach to BMX born from avant-garde street riders in Harlem, Philadelphia, Oakland, and elsewhere.

A few posts up there is a link to the new Mongoose bikes that are supposed to be as good as anyone else’s and are not walgoose editions. I did some digging on another site and found that by 1983 Mongoose frames were being built in Taiwan. I feel that bad now with mine being made there too. Raceit, I wanted but did not have a Mongoose in my teenage years. I guess that is why I still WANT that 1980 Supergoose I never had. I am a bit closer by now having my ’96 Mongoose expert pro.

I’m happy with mine, regardless of mongoose bmx where it was made. Incidently, I bought the exact same bike a couple years later from Dunhams (first year of Pacific) and I hated it. It rode terribly no matter how many times I tried to tune it up. Mongoose Bicycles are essentially produced and marketed for two different demographics.

With new tricks being introduced at a rapid rate and the refining of a ‘professionalism’ to the demonstrations, BMX was unstoppable. With momentum afoot, Mongoose took the natural path of producing bikes and eventually, parts. Under the production name ‘BMX Products’, 1975 saw the very first batch of heli-arc welded frames which again, were designed with the BMX biker in mind. Scott Breithaupt of SE Bikes and literal pioneer of BMX fame, speaks to this topic in an interview with BMX Ultra, here.

All Mongoose complete set ups are approved by the pros. Use our size, price and colour filters to help you find the right style for you. Mongoose started in a garage in 1974 with the Motomag wheel – an innovation that brought BMX to a global audience. Almost 50 years later, we’re still the legit brand dedicated to fueling the wild side of riders everywhere to push their limits on two wheels, have a blast and get dirty doing it. The Mongoose Legion 16 is a solid BMX bike for kids 3-feet-6-inches and under who need a 16-incher that can take a beating. The Legion 16 is simple to assemble and features gyro brakes for easy handlebar spins, loose-ball bottom brackets, and comfy grips.

I too like the old school better, but for now the Mid School is all this guy can afford. A friend of mine had a solution pro back in like 94-95,, that bike rode awesome and my other buddy had the first run of the Tim Hall frames in like 95 I think,, that was a great trail bike, that thing rode like a Cadillac. Mongoose Bikes are now just one brand of many in the vast stable of performance bicycles owned by, Wisconsin based, Pacific Cycle Inc.
